Design

When it comes to the design of this keyboard, corsair really gave it’s best while listening to user’s opinions. There are very convenient media buttons at the top (including wheel for volume) and a handy row of macro buttons all the way to the left.

There are plenty of options when it comes to RGB lighting with a bunch of different presets and unlimited customization unlike with the K60 model. And since corsair upgraded its a control panel with more intuitive UI it’s easier than ever to make your own setup for this keyboard.

Corsair’s control panel

It’s pretty big compared to other keyboards, but most importantly it stays in place while typing or gaming intensively. The rock-solid aluminum structure makes it a bit heavier, which is a good thing. This keyboard is not meant to be moved around frequently like small wireless Royal Kludge RK61.

You can make 3 different presets saved in keyboard memory and have them available independently of a computer that you are connected to. If you don’t mind carrying it around, it can be a great thing for parties or some gaming tournaments.

While previous editions of the K70/K95 used a thin and clean sans-serif type on the keys, Corsair has been slowly moving all its keyboards to a blockier typeface, including last year’s K70 Rapidfire, and this K95. Which look leans more towards the gaming environment.

Corsair k95 RGB platinum Switches

This keyboard is designed specifically for gaming considering that it comes with either Cherry MX speed (silver) or brown switches and it is not designed for the office. Find more about different types of switches here.

A final word

In my opinion, this is the ultimate keyboard you will ever want for PC gaming, but it doesn’t have that many cons to it, so what’s the catch here? Well, the price. For this premium build, you will have to spare 199$ which is on the higher end of mechanical keyboards prices. But if you can’t afford it there are definitely some cheaper alternatives like this. However, if you like everything in this review and have some bucks saved up, make sure to consider Corsair K95 RGB Platinum is one of the top choices out there.
