Could Instagram Be the Most-Used Photo App During the Olympics? – ABC Keyboard
The very famous Instagram app is believed to be a new user every second. The app has only been available for a couple of years but it’s definitely waves. Recently bought for an astounding $1 billion on Facebook, Instagram is now the most common photo-app used at the Olympics this year and has been used by more than forty million people (as of April 2012).
This certainly seems to me: you can check hashtags, like #torchrelay and #londonolympics, and see some related Instagram pictures already if you go to Twitter. In reality, an official Instagram Olympics blog suggests that the app could be one of the main ways to take the experience of the upcoming 2012 Games and share it with others.
More than a billion images have previously been submitted to Instagram and according to an info graphic on the Digital Buzz site, up to five millions new ones are included every day. That works out every second with fifty-eight pictures. And then when we think about how predominant smartphones begin to become and about how many people want to share their experiences of the Olympics, there is no major leap from the imagination to realise that many of these people share their experiences through Instagram.

The fact that ticket holders are now prevented of sharing any video or images that could be taken while watching Olympic events will restrict Instagram usage during a sporting spectacle. They can only work with their own photos for individual use under ticket holders’ conditions – that does not mean sharing through Instagram or any other social networking site.
However in spite of these limitations, there is absolutely nothing preventing people from sharing photos outside the Olympic venues through the app. With regard to all considered, even greater numbers of people will celebrate the event at home or at the bar than the Olympic Stadium. Companies can also opt to use Instagram at the Olympic Games. To mention just one example, businesses can compete in their own market in the most successful Instagram picture of an Olympic party.
Generally, although the sharing of images via Instagram in the Olympic Games is a few limitations, it also remains almost the most common applications in it its socio-economic character suggests that it may well be the hottest Olympic app.
