Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum is definitely a better version of Orion Spark, with a lot of macro possibilities, RGB customization, and elegant design, one of the best keyboards in the class.

A First look

G910 is in the higher end Logitech keyboard range. This keyboard with 113 anti-ghosting keys and UK layout, features nine macro keys, a set of media keys as well as a volume roll, RGB lighting and phone dock which syncs with an Arc’s app, which I’ll mention later.

Build

The major design factor was support and comfort for endless gaming, and large integrated palm rest helps your hands put closer to the keys in a natural position.

There is a little supporting plastic vine making it looks nicer on your desk. On the bottom are rubber pads that will stop your keyboard from slipping when you’re gaming and typing.

The cable for this is a standard cable that isn’t braided. There aren’t any additional pass-throughs or audio capabilities for this keyboard, so that’s something to consider in that aspect.

At the bottom of the keyboard, there’s really cool G910 logo that lights depending on what color settings you’ve got on your keyboard, which improves the aesthetics and looks great in the dark as well.

Keycaps feature UV protective coating for finger oils and abrasion. On the WASD, arrow and G-keys is something that looks like an indentation, but it’s actually just printed on the keycaps, providing a different feel and nice aesthetic, so you can easily find the keys without looking.

Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum has the ability to turn off the Windows key. That’s helpful when you’re gaming. That stops accidentally minimizing the game, and that’s also programmable with the software, so you can customize the different buttons and features to your own preference. There is a button to disable the illumination on the keyboard.

There is a lot of buttons on left-hand side of the keyboard, we’ve got 5 macro keys(G1-G5) and above the F1-F4, additional 4 macro keys(G6-G9), and you can use the M1, M2 and M3 buttons at the very top left to change banks, so there are three banks of nine macro keys for a total of 27 macros. They can be assigned to different profiles or games, and easily switch between them. Also, there is an illuminated G logo that fits nice is top left corner.

On the top right-hand side is all media controls, so first you’ve got the mute and then the slowly scroll wheel because it is quite sensitive, it can volumes to 100% really easily, so be careful with that. Above, there’s play, pause, stop, previous and next track buttons.

Switches

Underneath the keycaps are Romer-G tactile switches, delivering quiet, precise mechanical performance with incredible feel and durability. The short-throw 1.5mm actuation and low-force 45g actuation point are 25% faster than the standard 2.0mm actuation mechanical switches. Also, they are made with dual contact points technology, so each actuation establishes a robust signal with strong reliability. That virtually eliminates double clicks and ensures lasting precision. They are tested for 70 million keystrokes and each of those areas consistent and quick as the first.

In reality, they have a very small bump at the top you won’t feel during gameplay, you can only notice that when you slowly press the key. Then it goes down to a very soften ending to the keypress travel, so it’s a mix between the membrane with a little bump at the top, but overall very nice to use. It’s also got like the solid plastic out and LED shining through.

Software

With this Logitech gaming software, you can set any of the macro keys, the nine different ones on the three different banks as well. The nice thing is on the top of the menu, there are all your games that the software detects! You can also add more in as well and make custom profiles for each piece of software or a game, and set up a different lighting profile and macros to match. On the top of the lighting, there is a preset mode, where you can change colors through the entire RGB specter, and I was surprised with RGB customization because it’s really nice to see many possibilities you can do with that.

You can pick one of the effect selections, and change direction for each. You can also change the different lighting for each key. There is a heat map, it works when you turn your PC on, it tracks where you press to write for that entire session. Where you press the most it’s getting darker in color.

Arx second screen

The new thing is phone dock which syncs with an Arc’s app, available in Android and iOS. On the very top center of the keyboard is Arx dock. There you can put your phone only in portrait view, and link to the app for Android and iOS. You will see a monitor of features: CPU, GPU and RAM speeds and temperatures. Remember to charge the phone, because you don’t have any way to charge the phone as it stands there, but it can take any big or small phone.

Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum with this price may not satisfy everyone’s but I think it is pretty good what it offers for that price.
